How to Set Up IPTV on an LG Smart TV (webOS)

Step-by-step setup

1. Check your webOS version and update

   Press the Settings button on the remote, choose All Settings, then Support or General, and open TV Information. It shows the webOS version. Then go to Support, Software Update and choose Check for Updates. Updating first avoids crashes in newer players that expect a recent version of webOS.

2. Open the Apps store

   Press the Home button. On webOS 22 and newer, select Apps on the home screen; on older sets the tile is called LG Content Store. Sign in with your LG account if the TV asks. The store you see is the one for the country set under Settings, All Settings, General, Location, LG Services Country.

3. Search for an IPTV player

   Choose the search icon and type IPTV. In most EU countries you will find several of IBO Player Pro, Flix IPTV, SS IPTV, Duplecast, Net IPTV and Smart IPTV, and in some regions IPTV Smarters Pro. Read the description and choose one that supports Xtream Codes or M3U playlists, then press Install.

4. Open the player and copy its device ID

   Start the player. Most webOS players show a MAC address or device ID and a key on the first screen. Write it down or take a photo. SS IPTV instead offers a one-time connection code under Settings, General, which you enter on its website to link a playlist.

5. Link your TiviBridge playlist online

   On your phone or laptop, open the upload page shown by the player. Enter the MAC address or code, then paste the M3U link or Xtream details from your TiviBridge activation message. Save and wait for the confirmation. If your player has a direct login screen on the TV, type the details there instead.

6. Reload the player on the TV

   Close the app by pressing Home, then reopen it from the Apps row. Choose Reload or Refresh playlist if the option is shown. The player downloads 25,000+ channels and the guide. Large lists can take a minute or two on webOS 4 and 5, so let it finish before you start switching.

7. Turn off Quick Start+ if the app misbehaves

   LG sets with Quick Start+ do not fully switch off, and apps sometimes resume in a broken state. Open Settings, All Settings, General, Devices, TV Management or simply General on older models, and switch Quick Start+ off. The TV starts a few seconds slower but players reload cleanly each time.

8. Pin the player and set favourites

   On the home screen, highlight the player, press and hold the centre button and move it to the front of the app bar. Inside the player, add your daily channels to favourites. A Flemish household might pick VRT 1, VTM and Play Sports; a Polish one TVP1, Polsat and TVN24.

Wi-Fi vs Ethernet on an LG TV

A network cable gives the most stable IPTV on an LG TV, and nearly every LG Smart TV has an Ethernet port. Plug it in and the TV switches over by itself. You can confirm under Settings, All Settings, General, Network, Wired Connection (Ethernet).

If you must use Wi-Fi, connect to the 5 GHz band and restart the router once a week. Older LG sets from 2018 and 2019 have modest Wi-Fi chips, so they suffer first when neighbours stream at the same time. Using an LG TV next to an operator box

Common errors and fixes

The player is missing from the Apps store

Store listings follow the LG Services Country setting. Search for the other players named in step three before changing anything. Changing the country resets the store and can remove other apps, so for most people a Fire TV Stick in a free HDMI port is the easier solution.

The playlist shows as expired or empty

The player often shows this when the trial period of the app itself has ended, not the TiviBridge plan. Check the activation status on the player website with your MAC address. If the app is active, re-upload the playlist and reload it on the TV.

The picture freezes but sound continues

This is usually a decoding limit on older webOS models with 4K or high-bitrate channels. Switch to the FHD version of the channel and turn off any motion settings such as TruMotion under Settings, Picture. A wired Ethernet connection also helps on busy evenings.

The app worked yesterday and now will not open

Delete the app from the home screen by pressing and holding it and choosing Delete, then install it again from Apps. Your playlist is stored on the player website against the MAC address, so it returns automatically after reinstalling.

Channels are in the wrong order
